City walks
Winter, spring, summer or fall. Delft surprises you all year round! The city walks of Do DELFT are informative, sometimes practical. But always relaxed and welcoming. We stroll through the streets, along the canals and royal squares. Wondering why the tower of the Old Church is so lopsided? Want to know why the Delft pottery is blue? And which royal highnesses are in the Royal vault? The Do DELFT guide will tell you!
We organize two types of walks: One for individual participants, who want to be part of a larger group. We call these walks introductory walks. Have you already formed a group and would you like to take a walk with a private guide? That is of course also possible.
All information about our introductory walks at a glance:
- We organise introductory walks every day of the week at 13.00 hours (1 PM). See also our actual program at our homepage.
- Our city walks last approximately 1.5 hours
- The walks will take place with a minimum of 4 people and a group consists of a maximum of 25 people
- Price per person is € 20,00

Delft – The city of orange and blue
Your guide will welcome the group at the Hampshire Hotel in Delft, the official coach parking location. Coaches may stop here for up to 30 minutes for passengers to get on and off.
From there, it’s just a pleasant 10‑minute walk to the vibrant Market Square. As you stroll through the charming streets, your guide will share captivating stories about Delft’s rich history and its ties to the Dutch Royal Family. Of course, you’ll see the city’s most iconic highlights: The New Church and Old Church, The impressive City Hall and the historic Prinsenhof Museum
Along the way, you’ll hear about Delft’s most famous painter, Johannes Vermeer, and the life of William of Orange, the Father of the Nation. And naturally, no visit to Delft is complete without learning about its world‑famous Delft Blue ceramics.
The walking tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours and ends back at the Hampshire Hotel bus parking.
The Hague – Highlights Bustour
Next, we continue by coach to The Hague for a scenic sightseeing tour. Along the route, you’ll pass: The Malieveld, The iconic Binnenhof parliamentary buildings, The elegant avenues Korte Voorhout and Lange Voorhout and the historic Plein 1813
A special stop is made at the Peace Palace, home to the United Nations International Court of Justice. Here, guests can take photos while the guide shares fascinating insights about this remarkable institution.
The tour concludes at the seaside in Scheveningen, with its lively beach boulevard — the perfect spot to enjoy the charming atmosphere of this former fishing village. Your guide will happily recommend the best places for excellent coffee or delicious fresh seafood.

During this unforgettable cyclingtour, our experienced guide will take you past Delft’s iconic spots and surprising new hotspots outside the city center. At a relaxed pace, with fun stories, unique facts, and above all… plenty of beautiful places to enjoy.
Start in the historic heart of Delft
The tour begins right in the city center. For the first half hour, you’ll cycle through the old city center, where time seems to have stood still. In the Markt (Market Square), you’ll admire the majestic Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) and the stately City Hall, while the guide shares colorful stories about the painter Johannes Vermeer, famous fellow citizens, and hidden urban myths.
Then the route takes you past the characteristic Oude Kerk (Old Church), known for its leaning tower and connections to famous historical figures. The Prinsenhof (Prince’s Court), where Dutch history took a dramatic turn, is also on the route. Here, you’ll look through the same windows where William of Orange once stayed and where two bullets proved fatal to him.
From history to innovation
After the city center, you’ll cycle towards Nieuwe Delft, the modern neighborhood that has sprung up on the site of the former Spoorzone railway station. Here, history meets the future: innovative architecture, sustainable urban development, and creative initiatives make this area an inspiring part of the tour. The highlight is the central hall of the “Huis van Delft” (House of Delft). The campus of Delft University of Technology is one of the most innovative places in the Netherlands. You’ll cycle past impressive buildings, state-of-the-art labs, and places where students and researchers work on the technology of tomorrow. The guide will tell you about this important part of the city, the unique buildings, and the energetic campus culture.
Two more surprises
The Art Center Delft is an inspiring cultural hub where art, crafts, and creativity converge. You’ll cycle past studios, exhibition spaces, and places where artists bring their work to life. The guide will tell you more about the origins of this creative location and the artworks you’ll see along the way. We’ll conclude the bike tour with a touch of nature. In the De Delftse Hout recreation area, you’ll experience peace and quiet, greenery close to the city. Imagine glistening waterways, expansive cycle paths, and the feeling of being completely outdoors. A wonderful end to a diverse route.
Delfshaven
Are you an experienced cyclist and not done cycling yet? Then book the XXL version. You’ll cycle to Delfshaven, now part of the municipality of Rotterdam, but once the port of Delft. A beautiful piece of history just outside Rotterdam, but with an important role in Delft’s past.
More information:
- This activity lasts approximately 3 hours and is offered year-round.
- The route is approximately 17 kilometers long.
- Price: €200 per group, excluding bike rental.
- If you’re not using your own bicycle, we’ll connect you with local bike rental companies. Some hotels also rent bicycles.
- A group consists of a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 14 participants.
- More people? We can organize a simultaneous activity for the other half of the group or use a second guide.
- Minimum age: 16.
- The XXL version, including a visit to Delfshaven, takes about 5 hours, covers a route of approximately 37 kilometers, and costs €300 per group, excluding bike rental.
- If weather conditions prevent a responsible bike ride, we will cancel the tour at least 24 hours in advance.

Delft city guide
Since 2016, Do DELFT has been organizing the most beautiful city walks, scooter tours and walking dinners, with enthusiasm and love for the city of Delft. We also lend a helping hand to (international) companies that want to organize their event in Delft.
To strengthen our team, we invite both experienced guides and starters to apply. The work for Do DELFT is carried out on a freelance basis.
The Do DELFT guides can be recognized by their:
o Enthusiasm; Usually the sun shines in Delft, but even when it rains, we passionately tell about beautiful Delft.
o Expertise; every participant in our activities is naturally curious about the Delft pearls. Our guides know how to find them effortlessly. And difficult questions… they don’t exist for them.
o Communication skills; they can tell wonderful stories, but also listen well. They are empathetic and give/receive feedback.
o Language skills; Dutch, English, German, Spanish or French, pas de problem!
o Inclusiveness; there is no room for ego or fear in Delft, everyone is welcome and is valued for his/her qualities.
o Flexibility; a bus with foreign guests can sometimes get stuck in a traffic jam, or arrive earlier in the city.
o Improvisation skills; many things are going well, but not everything is going smoothly. Our guides don’t see problems, but challenges.

Do DELFT Scooter tour
Few means of transport provide as much fun as the scooter. So fun is guaranteed! Not least because in addition to a short tour through the charming center of the city, we will also explore the area. So join the tour and you will be surprised, in a special and active way, by the city of orange & blue.
On the way we drive through the Agneta Park. In this old factory colony, the couple Jacques and Agneta van Marken ran the yeast and spirit factory. This couple is way ahead of their time. For example, they have accident insurance for their employees, a staff newspaper and… in 1884 they founded a garden village next to the factory. Here the guide can tell endlessly about life in this park and about the Van Marken couple.
But… he/she doesn’t do that because we also want to take a look at one of the courtyards of the city. The Hofje van Pauw is a hidden gem. From the legacy of Elisabeth Pauw, eight houses were built here in 1707 for the less wealthy residents of Delft.
Another showpiece in the Delft streetscape is without a doubt the Oostpoort. Once the gateway to the city, today a must-see icon.

Drie Dubbel Delft

Stel je komt een dagje of een weekendje naar Delft en je wil de stad op alle fronten leren kennen. Dan boek je ons “Drie Dubbel Delft” arrangement. Je kunt kiezen uit 2 varianten:
- A) Wandelen, lekker lunchen en steppen.
- B) Wandelen, lekker lunchen en varen.
Voor beide varianten geldt: De ideale manier om Delft te ontdekken!
Je begint jouw dagje Delft, om 11.00 uur met een uitgebreide stadswandeling, onder begeleiding van onze Do DELFT stadsgids. Tijdens de wandeling kom je alles te weten over de iconen van de stad. De Nieuwe- en Oude Kerk, het stadhuis, het Prinsenhof en de Vleeschhal passeren de revue. Uiteraard wordt er ook stil gestaan bij de bekendste inwoners, soms uit een ver verleden. Johannes Vermeer, Hugo de Groot, Antoni van Leeuwenhoek en Willem van Oranje. Door de mooie verhalen van de gids, komen deze Delvenaren/Delftenaren weer tot leven. De stadswandeling duurt ongeveer 1,5 uur.
Daarna wandel je rustig naar het lunchadres. Wij hebben om 13.00 uur een tafel bij het Stads Koffyhuis of De Delf voor jullie gereserveerd.
De laatste activiteit start om 15.00 uur; bij variant A wordt Delft op de step verder ontdekt. Nu verkennen we juist het gebied rondom het centrum. We nemen een kijkje in het Nieuwe Delft, het Agnetapark en het Hofje van Pauw. Via de Oostpoort en de Markt rijden we weer terug naar het startpunt van de steptocht. Rond 16.30 uur drink je een welverdiend drankje bij restaurant De Delf. De ideale plek om je dagje Delft af te sluiten.
Kies je voor variant B dan vertrek je om 15.00 uur met één van de rondvaartboten om de stad vanaf het water te verkennen. De rondvaart duurt een klein uur. De kapitein vertelt je onderweg mooie verhalen en de prachtige gebouwen geven je een goed beeld van de stad van oranje en blauw.
- Variant A is voor individuele deelnemers (= minder dan 12 personen) alleen op zaterdag te boeken. Variant B is voor individuele deelnemers elke dag van de week, behalve zondag, te boeken.
- Voor groepen van minimaal 12 personen is dit arrangement elke dag van de week te boeken.
- Zowel bij de wandeling, als bij de steptocht en de rondvaart kunnen andere deelnemers aansluiten. Wil je de activiteiten met een privé gids boeken, dan verandert de prijs.
- Voor groepen kan de volgorde van de activiteiten, indien gewenst, aangepast worden.
- Groepen kunnen uit maximaal 18 personen bestaan (i.v.m. het aantal steps). We kunnen natuurlijk wel 2 groepen maken.
- Het programma is ruim opgezet, tussen de activiteiten heb je vrije tijd om bij de lokale winkeliers een souvenir te kopen of op een terrasje neer te strijken.
- De lunch bestaat uit een klein soepje, twee broodjes en een drankje (koffie, thee, frisdrank, huiswijn of tapbier)
- De steps zijn niet elektrisch en de minimale leeftijd voor de steptocht is 16 jaar.
- Na afloop van de steptocht is een drankje inbegrepen (koffie, thee, frisdrank, huiswijn of tapbier), kies je voor de rondvaart, dan is er geen drankje na afloop inbegrepen.
- Het kan voorkomen, dat de algemene informatie van de gids tijdens de wandeling en steptocht een beetje overlapt, maar de bezienswaardigheden onderweg zijn totaal verschillend. Bij de rondvaart is er meer informatie overlappend.
De prijs van dit Drie Dubbel Delft arrangement is € 47,50 (variant A) of € 42,50 (variant B) per persoon. Zou je de activiteiten los reserveren, dan ben je € 5 tot € 10 duurder uit. Een aantrekkelijk voordeel!

Walking Dinner in Delft
Eating and walking, that is perfectly possible in Delft. During this walk we combine cozy food with the history of the city. A delicious soup will be served at the starting location, where the guide will pick you up for a walk along the New Church, the town hall and the Meathouse. While walking, you arrive at the restaurant, where you will enjoy the main course. With a full stomach, we continue the walk. During this second part of the walk, the guide will show you the Prinsenhof and the Old Church. The walk ends with a dessert, you will like it!
- Our walking dinner takes about 4 hours and you walk about 3 kilometers.
- We work together with a number of good restaurants, which are centrally located in the center of the city.
- Dietary wishes and vegetarians are of course taken into account as much as possible.
- Drinks during the dishes are not included, you pay for these on the spot.
- Lunch instead of dinner? That is also possible! This arrangement consists of coffee with cake, a soup and a delicious sandwich.

Onze historische wandelingen zijn boeiend, interessant en altijd gezellig. Wil je iets meer de diepte in over een bepaald onderwerp? Kies dan voor één van de themawandelingen. Onze gidsen staan stil op punten en vertellen verhalen, die bij de historische wandelingen niet aan de orde komen. Je kan kiezen tussen:

Boekwandelingen
Speciaal voor boekenclubs en echte boekenwormen heeft Do DELFT twee boekwandelingen in de stad georganiseerd.
Kies je voor de historische roman Nachtblauw van Simone van der Vlugt of de roman Reizen in het verleden van Frans van der Sman. Deze laatste wandeling is wel heel bijzonder, want de schrijver zelf gaat je rondleiden.

Boekwandeling: Reizen in het Verleden
Deze boekwandeling is wel heel bijzonder. Want de schrijver van de roman ‘Reizen in het verleden’, Frans van der Sman, wandelt met jullie door de stad. Door het decor van zijn eigen boek, dat gaat over twee Delftse families. Het speelt zich vooral af in de periode van de grote veranderingen, het eind van de 19e en begin van de 20e eeuw. Waar lagen in hun tijd de kansen om te groeien? Je wandelt niet alleen samen met de schrijver, jullie reizen door het verleden. Iets dat perfect kan in het oude Delft.
De wandeling begint in het centrum; de Beestenmarkt, de Markt, en de chique Oude Delft. Vervolgens gaan we via het Hof van Delft naar het Agnetapark waar ooit de eerste sociale ondernemers van Nederland actief waren. We bekijken het oude hoofdkantoor van een historisch bedrijf en gaan dan weer terug naar het oude centrum. Tijdens de wandeling zie je een aantal bekende bezienswaardigheden van Delft, je komt echter vooral op plekjes waar niet zoveel bezoekers komen; de verborgen pareltjes.
Je ervaart de groei van de stad door de tijd heen maar ook hoe mensen moeten dealen met de vraagstukken van de tijd waarin ze leven. Want zoals je waarschijnlijk wel weet, elk huisje heeft zijn kruisje.
In het kort:
