Delft Crafts Walk
We at Do DELFT believe that old crafts should be honored. That is why we introduced the Delft Crafts Walk. During this walk, you will visit three local entrepreneurs who passionately practice their craft and can also tell you all about it in a fun way.
What is the plan?
You will meet our Do DELFT guide in front of the New Church at the Markt. You will go on a walk with him/her for the next 1.5 hours. And… where better to start our Delft Crafts Walk than at Pottery De Candelaer. Steffan has been making Delft Blue pottery in a traditional way since 1975. It is also painted here. The most beautiful plates, bowls, vases and other collector’s items are painted here by him and his colleagues. Did you know that De Candelaer also paints on request? They receive requests from all over the world. Steffan will enthusiastically inform you about his craft.
On the way to the second entrepreneur, our guide will tell you about the crafts of today and the sights in the area. At the Candlemaker “Stads Kaarsenmakerij” in Delft, owner Edward will welcome you with open arms. First he will tell you about making candles and the link between candles and the city of Delft. Then you can get your hands dirty. Because everyone goes home with a candle in their favorite color. The visit to the Stads Kaarsenmakerij ends with coloring your own candle.
We end the walk nicely, because who doesn’t love chocolate? It is only a short walk to Van der Burgh Chocolaad. This exclusive chocolatier was founded in 2011 as a result of an extensive search in the Netherlands for hand-processed chocolate bars. Because the supply was not large, Richard started his own in 2011. The result: the artisanal chocolate was quickly discovered by many chocolate fans and even in the Royal KLM planes, passengers are spoiled with Van den Burgh chocolate. You can hear, smell and taste it all here. Of course you can also buy chocolate, if you want.
The Delft Craft Walk is a fun way to learn more about three local craft entrepreneurs from Delft. We will make the walk in a relaxed way. Of course, you can also ask all your questions.
In short:
- The Delft Craft Walk lasts over an hour, maximum 1.5 hours. This depends on the number of questions and the time needed for any purchases.

sTeptember

The well-known yellow scooters are back in the streets of Delft. Refurbished by the Delft bicycle repairman Piet Vonk and equipped with a Delft blue rear tire, these yellow friends are ready for many kilometers of scooter fun.

A guide from Do DELFT accompanies the group and tells a lot about the city of Orange & Blue along the way.
But it doesn’t stop there, because it is only sTeptember once a year, which is why restaurant De Delf treats the participants to a refreshing drink afterwards!

Audioguide Citywalk Delft
Together with WeGoTrip we made an audiotour in Delft. Our own in-app audio tour is informative, sometimes practical but always relaxed and welcoming.
You will stroll through the streets, along the canals and royal squares. Wondering why the tower of the Old Church is so lopsided? Want to know why the Delft pottery is blue? And which royal highnesses are in the Royal vault? Your digital guide will tell you!
The tour starts at Market Square where you will learn how the city came to be, and marvel at the magnificent New Church, and the “oxblood red” shutters of the City Hall.
Next, you will see where the famous painter Johannes Vermeer spent his childhood and developed his talent. Then, you will plunge into the atmosphere of old Delft while examining the former meat house, which is now a must-visit restaurant, and the Butter Bridge, which was once used as a big fridge.
As you continue along the historical downtown of the city, you will “meet” the father of the nation – Willem van Oranje. You will cross the beautiful canals and be amazed to learn that they are full of bicycles.
The tour ends at one of Delft’s coziest courtyards, Hofje van Pauw.
We are sure that you will love Delft. Back home you will tell all your friends about the unique atmosphere in this old Dutch city. After all, Delft never disappoints!
You can book our audiotour via this link to the website of WeGoTrip.
